Watergate Complex - site of 1972 DNC break-in

The Watergate office-apartment complex on the Potomac River was the location of the June 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters that led to the Watergate scandal and ultimately President Richard Nixon’s resignation. The complex includes mixed residential, office, and hotel space and remains a recognizable landmark along Virginia Avenue NW. Its name is widely associated with the political scandal in U.S. history.
