Studio Museum in Harlem

The Studio Museum in Harlem, founded in 1968, is a museum and cultural center historically dedicated to artists of African descent and to work inspired by Black culture. For decades the institution has run artist-in-residence programs, commissioning projects and rotating exhibitions that have helped launch the careers of emerging contemporary artists. The museum has served as a key site for artistic production and community-focused programming in Harlem.
