Salt River Project headquarters and the Salt-Verde dam system

Salt River Project (SRP), headquartered in Phoenix, is the public utility that manages the canal network and hydroelectric facilities supplying the Phoenix metropolitan area. The SRP system is fed by reservoirs created by a series of dams on the Salt and Verde rivers, including Horse Mesa, Mormon Flat, Stewart Mountain and the Roosevelt project. Those reservoirs store seasonal runoff to provide municipal water deliveries and hydropower used by Phoenix-area customers. Roosevelt Dam was completed by the U.S. Reclamation Service in 1911 and created Theodore Roosevelt Lake, a key reservoir in the system.
