Texas State Capitol (largest state capitol building in the U.S.)

The Texas State Capitol in Austin is the largest state capitol building in the United States by square footage. Completed in 1888 and built of sunset red granite, it contains approximately 360,000 square feet of interior space. The capitol's dome rises to about 308 feet, making it taller than the U.S. Capitol's dome, and the building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
