Seattle Aquarium (Central Waterfront icon)

The Seattle Aquarium opened in 1977 on Pier 59 along the central waterfront and focuses on the marine life of Puget Sound and the Salish Sea. Its public exhibits include touch pools, marine mammal displays, and educational programming about local ecosystems. The aquarium is a longstanding visitor attraction and neighborhood institution on the downtown waterfront.
