Carnegie Library at Mount Vernon Square

Opened in 1903 as Washington, D.C.'s central public library, the Carnegie Library was funded by Andrew Carnegie and designed in the Beaux-Arts style. The building later housed the Historical Society of Washington, D.C., and underwent a major renovation before reopening in 2019 as the Apple Carnegie Library and civic space. Its 801 K Street location is a noted example of early-20th-century civic architecture in the city.
