Original Starbucks store at Pike Place Market

The first Starbucks store opened in 1971 at Pike Place Market and continues to operate at the same location. The company was founded by Jerry Baldwin, Zev Siegl, and Gordon Bowker as a single shop selling roasted coffee beans and equipment before expanding into the global chain. The original Pike Place location at 1912 Pike Place is a noted historical and tourist site within Seattle's market district.
