Demolition of J.L. Hudson's flagship department store

The J.L. Hudson Company flagship department store at 1206 Woodward Avenue was demolished in 1998 after years of vacancy. The Hudson's building had been a downtown Detroit landmark and was once one of the largest department store buildings in the United States. Its demolition permanently removed the historic flagship from Detroit's downtown streetscape.
