Henry B. Clarke House

The Henry B. Clarke House, also known as the Clarke-Ford House, is a historic Greek Revival style home in Chicago, Illinois, built around 1836. It is recognized as the oldest existing house in the city and serves as a museum showcasing its rich history. Originally constructed by Henry B. Clarke, a hardware businessman, the house has been relocated twice and is now situated in a park within the Prairie Avenue Historic District. The house has undergone various renovations, particularly by Clarke's widow, Caroline, who added significant architectural features. The museum is operated by the Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs and offers visitors a glimpse into early Chicago life with period furnishings. The house was designated a Chicago Landmark in 1970 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
