Lowell Sun Building

The Lowell Sun Building, an early skyscraper in Lowell, Massachusetts, was constructed between 1912 and 1914 and designed by architect Clarence Blackall. Originally built for the local newspaper The Sun, it replaced an older Greek revival structure. The building features artworks by John Ingersoll Coggeshall and was notable for its steel frame and reinforced concrete design. In the 1930s, a weather station and neon letters spelling 'SUN' were added to the rooftop. Today, the building has been repurposed as senior housing, with the original neon signage updated to LED lights, making it a unique blend of historical significance and modern utility.
