Building 40 (Army Medical School)

Building 40, located in the Walter Reed Army Medical Center complex in Washington, D.C., is a Georgian revival structure built between 1922 and 1932. Initially housing the Army Medical School, it later became the Walter Reed Army Institute of Research. The building features four distinct pavilions, each named after notable figures in military medicine, and showcases elaborate classical architecture with brick and limestone detailing. Although currently vacant and in disrepair, Building 40 holds historical significance as a center for military medical education and research, contributing to advancements in public health. The building is also associated with a legendary 'War Room' used by President Franklin Roosevelt during World War II discussions.
