Guenther House and pioneer miller Carl Wilhelm Guenther

Carl Wilhelm Guenther, a German immigrant, founded the Pioneer Flour Mills on the San Antonio River in the 1850s and established his family home adjacent to the mill. That home is preserved today as the Guenther House, a restaurant and museum that documents Guenther's role in San Antonio's milling industry and local history. The Pioneer Flour Mill complex remains a tangible link to Guenther's business and civic contributions.
