The Shed (flexible performance shell)

The Shed is a cultural center at Hudson Yards that opened in 2019 and is designed with a telescoping outer shell that can extend over its plaza to create a large, reconfigurable performance and exhibition space. The building was developed to commission and present multidisciplinary work across visual art, performance, music, and popular culture. Its movable architecture and programming model aim to support projects that require nontraditional staging and large spatial flexibility.
