Lathrop-Munn Cobblestone House

The Lathrop-Munn Cobblestone House, built around 1848 in Beloit, Wisconsin, is a stunning example of Greek Revival architecture, notable for its meticulously arranged cobblestone exterior. This historic 1.5-story house features a low-pitched roof, elegant frieze board, and distinctive limestone lintels. The cobblestones, rounded by wave action, are carefully laid in alternating color bands, creating a visually appealing facade. Once owned by early settler John Hackett and later by Frederick A. Lathrop, the house showcases the craftsmanship of the mid-1800s and was recognized as one of the best-preserved cobblestone houses in Beloit when it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
