Calthorpes' House

Calthorpes' House is a heritage-listed residence located in Red Hill, Canberra, built in 1927 for Harry and Dell Calthorpe. Designed by architect Ken Oliphant, it reflects the domestic life of a family in the late 1920s, featuring three bedrooms and a preserved air raid shelter from World War II. The house remained largely unchanged until it was purchased by the Australian Government in 1984 and opened as a museum in 1986. Recognized for its historical significance, it offers visitors a glimpse into the past and is listed on the Australian Capital Territory Heritage Register.
