Centro Asturiano de Tampa

The Centro Asturiano de Tampa is a historic social club located in Ybor City, Tampa, Florida, designed by architect M. Leo Elliott. Established in the early 1900s, it served immigrants from Asturias, Spain, providing essential services like healthcare and social activities. The club's hospital, opened in 1905, was pivotal for the community until its closure in 1990, after which the focus shifted to preserving the club's history. The site includes two cemeteries, with notable figures interred, including Medal of Honor recipient Baldomero López. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974, it remains a cultural landmark for descendants of Asturian immigrants.
