Cable Car Museum (Washington-Mason Powerhouse)

The Cable Car Museum preserves the original power house and winding machinery that operate San Francisco's historic cable car system. The museum displays several retired cable cars and interprets the 19th-century technology that still moves the city's active lines. Admission to the museum is free and it documents the continuous operation of the system since the 1870s.
