Hagerty House

The Hagerty House, located at 505 East Rusk Street in Marshall, Texas, is a historic two-story brick residence built in 1889. It was commissioned by William Phillip Hagerty, a personal engineer for railroad magnate George J. Gould, and is notable for being the first solid brick home in the area. The house reflects the craftsmanship of railway artisans and has a rich history tied to its original owner, who emigrated from Ireland during the Great Famine. The Hagerty family maintained ownership until 1967, after which it was restored by the Harris family. Recognized as a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1977 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978, the Hagerty House offers a glimpse into the architectural and cultural heritage of Texas.
