Head Of The Charles Regatta (on the Charles River)

The Head Of The Charles Regatta is an annual two-day rowing regatta held on the Charles River in the Boston area, first run in 1965. It is one of the largest regattas in the world, routinely drawing over 11,000 athletes from dozens of countries and hundreds of rowing clubs. Races are contested in multiple boat classes and categories and take place each October on a winding 3-mile course between Boston and Cambridge. The event is organized by the Head Of The Charles Regatta Association and uses facilities along the Esplanade for race operations.
