Mudd Club (historic downtown arts venue)

The Mudd Club at 77 White Street operated from 1978 to 1983 and became a focal venue for punk, no-wave, and experimental art and performance in downtown Manhattan. The club hosted emerging musicians, performance artists, and interdisciplinary events that helped define New York's late-1970s alternative cultural scene. Its short-lived existence and eclectic programming have made the site a frequently cited landmark in histories of underground New York art and music.
