1876 Centennial Exposition - largest international exhibition to that date

The 1876 Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia was the first official World's Fair held in the United States and, at the time, was the largest international exhibition ever staged. Memorial Hall (now housing the Please Touch Museum) was constructed for the exposition and is one of the few major surviving buildings from the fair. The exposition showcased industrial, technological, and cultural exhibits from around the world.
