Howard Theatre - historic Shaw performance venue

The Howard Theatre at 620 T St NW originally opened in 1910 as a performance venue that showcased Black entertainers and served Black audiences. It closed in the late 20th century and reopened in 2012 after a substantial restoration and modernization effort. The theater now presents concerts, comedy, and community events and is a prominent part of Shaw’s live-music and cultural scene.
