Scimitar Building

The Scimitar Building, located in Memphis, Tennessee, is a historic five-story structure that showcases a blend of Beaux-Arts and Romanesque Revival architectural styles. Originally commissioned in 1902 by merchant prince Napoleon Hill, it served as the home of the Evening Scimitar newspaper until 1929. The building features a stunning lobby adorned with original Tennessee marble and large arched windows, along with decorative lion heads at the top. After serving various purposes, including as the headquarters for Memphis Light, Gas and Water, it was transformed into the boutique Hotel Napoleon in 2016, offering 56 guest rooms and modern amenities while retaining its historical charm. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, making it a notable destination for tourists and researchers alike.
