La Pyramide (building)

La Pyramide is a striking high-rise building located in the Plateau area of Abidjan, Ivory Coast, known for its unique architectural design by Italian architect Rinaldo Olivieri. Completed in 1973, it was one of the first high-rises in the city during the period of economic growth known as the Ivorian miracle. Originally a vibrant hub for expatriates and the Ivorian elite, the building has faced significant deterioration since the 1990s due to political instability and inefficiencies in its design. In 2011, the Ivorian government announced plans for a major renovation to restore La Pyramide and transform it into a tourist attraction, with an estimated cost of 18 billion CFA francs. However, as of now, renovations have yet to commence, leaving this iconic structure in a state of disrepair.
