Owston's Buildings

Owston's Buildings, located at 9–23 High Street in Fremantle, Western Australia, is a heritage-listed site completed in 1903 during the gold boom era. Designed by architect Frederick William Burwell, the building features eight shops on the ground floor and six flats above, characterized by its rendered brick facade and distinctive architectural details such as arched windows and a prominent parapet. Named after ship captain William Owston, who commissioned its construction, the building has housed various businesses over the years, including a branch of the Western Australian Bank and the popular Villa Roma restaurant. Today, it serves as office space for the University of Notre Dame and is home to several small businesses, making it a vibrant part of Fremantle's historic West End.
