Grundy County Courthouse (Illinois)

The Grundy County Courthouse, located at 111 East Washington St. in Morris, Illinois, serves as the center of county government and judicial proceedings for the 13th circuit of Illinois. Built between 1912 and 1913 in a Classical Revival style, the courthouse features a striking façade of cut limestone and was designed by architect Joseph W. Royer. The historic circuit courtroom on the second floor remains in use, and in 2009, it was celebrated by the Illinois State Bar Association. An annex built in the mid-1970s houses law enforcement facilities, including a county jail. This courthouse is the third to serve Grundy County, following two earlier structures that have since been lost to history.
