Casa Rio - first restaurant on the River Walk

Casa Rio opened in 1946 and is widely credited as the first restaurant established along the San Antonio River Walk. The restaurant occupies a riverside location and helped set the pattern for River Walk dining and tourism that developed in subsequent decades. Casa Rio has operated in its original location since opening and is known for its Tex-Mex menu served along the river. Its presence predates much of the later commercial development of the River Walk.
