Melkonov-Yezekov House

The Melkonov-Yezekov House, located at 71 Bolshaya Sadovaya Street in Rostov-on-Don, was a notable late 19th-century building known for its Beaux-Arts architecture and later Art Nouveau redesign. Built by the wealthy wool merchant Gavriil Melkonov-Yezekov, it became a symbol of competition between local merchants. The house featured three floors initially, later expanded to five during a construction boom. It housed various commercial premises, including the 'Kolizey' cinema where poet Sergei Yesenin performed. Unfortunately, it was destroyed by an aerial bomb in 1942 during World War II, with its remnants repurposed for new construction post-war.
