Corona Lodge

Corona Lodge, built in 1902 in the Berea district of Johannesburg, is a historically significant building originally constructed as a Masonic Society Lodge. Designed by architect J A Cope Christie, it features a distinctive brown brick facade with elegant stained glass windows and decorative elements. The lodge has served various community purposes over the years, including as a meeting place for the Jewish community and a site for educational classes in Jewish studies. Although it fell out of use in the 1920s, it was later adapted for office use, earning architectural recognition for its sensitive conversion. As one of the few remaining original structures in the area, Corona Lodge represents both cultural heritage and architectural value, making it an interesting site for tourists and researchers alike.
