Liberty Bell Center

The Liberty Bell was originally cast in 1752 by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry in London and was recast twice in Philadelphia by local founders John Pass and John Stow in 1753. The bell developed its famous crack over the 19th century and is now displayed in the Liberty Bell Center near Independence Hall. Historically, the bell has been used as a symbol by various movements, including 19th-century abolitionists who adopted it as an icon of liberty.
