Church of the Immaculate Conception, Alsėdžiai

The Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Holy Virgin Mary, built in 1793, is a striking example of Samogitian architecture located in Alsėdžiai, Lithuania. This basilica-style church features a unique wooden structure with a pyramid shape and a large, double-sided roof. Its interior boasts Baroque altars adorned with intricate wooden carvings and paintings. Visitors can also explore an 18th-century wooden bell tower and a modest 19th-century chapel nearby, which reflects traditional Samogitian design. The site offers a glimpse into the region's rich ecclesiastical history, having served as a residence for Samogitian bishops from 1421 to 1842.
