Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture

The National Museum of African American History and Culture opened on the National Mall in 2016 and holds one of the largest collections dedicated to African American life, history, and culture. Its distinctive bronze-colored, corona-inspired façade was designed by a team led by architect David Adjaye and references West African metalwork traditions. The museum has hosted millions of visitors and contains extensive artifacts and exhibitions on slavery, the civil rights movement, and African American cultural achievements.
