Steele Indian School Park (former Phoenix Indian School)

The Phoenix Indian School opened in 1891 as a federal boarding school; after the campus closed in 1990 the site was redeveloped as Steele Indian School Park, which opened in 2008. The park preserves and interprets surviving historic buildings and landscape features from the school's campus and includes exhibits and markers about the institution's history. Several original campus buildings were retained and repurposed for cultural and community uses as part of the park development.
