St. Stanislaus Institute (Slovenia)

The St. Stanislaus Institute, located in Šentvid, Ljubljana, is a historic Roman Catholic educational institution founded in the early 20th century. Established by Bishop Anton Bonaventura Jeglič, it was the first Slovene-language upper secondary school, officially opened in 1905. The institute has a tumultuous history, having been requisitioned by German authorities during World War II and later used by the Gestapo. After the war, it served military purposes until Slovenia's independence in 1991, when it was returned to the Catholic Church. Today, it hosts various educational facilities, including a secondary school, dormitories, a music school, and a preschool, making it a vibrant center for learning and culture in Ljubljana.
