Monument House

The Monument House, also known as Schweitzer House, is a striking architectural retreat located just outside Joshua Tree National Park in California. Designed by architect Josh Schweitzer between 1989 and 1990, this modern structure features a unique cubic shape with irregular openings that harmonize with the surrounding desert landscape, characterized by fragmented monzogranite boulders. Its colors reflect the natural environment, including an orange gazebo that echoes local boulders and flowers, along with olive tones from shrubs and cacti, and blues representing distant ridgelines and the sky.
