Barnes Foundation - unique privately assembled art collection

The Barnes Foundation houses the collection assembled by Dr. Albert C. Barnes and is noted for its distinctive holdings of Impressionist, Post‑Impressionist, and early Modern paintings and decorative arts. Barnes's installation methods emphasize ensembles and didactic groupings rather than chronological museum display. The collection includes large numbers of works by Renoir, Cézanne, Matisse, and Picasso and was relocated to its Benjamin Franklin Parkway building in 2012.
