Fulham Baths

Fulham Public Baths and Washhouses is a historic Grade II listed building located at 368 North End Road, Fulham, London. Constructed between 1899 and 1902, it was designed by architect H. Deighton Pearson and features statues of Poseidon and Amphitrite. Originally built to promote public hygiene and combat diseases like cholera, the baths included 84 private slipper baths and large swimming facilities, serving the local community across social classes. After closing in 1979 due to safety issues, a notable campaign led by a local widow aimed to preserve the site. Although most of the structure was demolished, the front façade remains intact and the site now houses the Dance Attic Rehearsal Studios, making it a point of interest for both tourists and researchers exploring London's architectural and social history.
