John Williams - Boston Pops music director 1980–1993

Composer John Williams served as the Boston Pops Orchestra's music director from 1980 to 1993 and was later named conductor laureate. During his tenure he led many Pops concerts and recordings, performing regularly in Boston venues including Symphony Hall. His leadership is a documented part of the Pops' late-20th-century history in Boston.
