Christian Jipp Home & Grocery

The Christian Jipp Home & Grocery is a historic site located in the Hamburg Historic District of Davenport, Iowa, recognized for its significance since its addition to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Built in 1868 by German immigrant Christian Jipp, this building was one of the first retail establishments on the Davenport bluff. Jipp operated the grocery until 1906, and it remained in business until 1958. After years of vacancy and a near-demolition in 2004, the site was revitalized and now functions as the Architectural Rescue Shop, where visitors can explore and purchase restored architectural artifacts, alongside a residential apartment on the upper floor.
