Union Station (Daniel Burnham's Beaux-Arts rail terminal)
By Seeker
Designed by architect Daniel H. Burnham and completed in 1907, Union Station is a Beaux-Arts transportation hub that consolidated multiple railroad terminals into a single monumental complex. Its Main Hall features a large vaulted ceiling and classical ornamentation associated with the City Beautiful movement. The station underwent a major restoration and redevelopment in the 1980s that refurbished decorative finishes and renewed retail and passenger facilities. It continues to serve Amtrak, commuter rail, and bus services while remaining an iconic example of early-20th-century railroad architecture.
