Cameron Estate

Cameron Estate, located in Mount Joy, Pennsylvania, was the summer home of Simon Cameron, Secretary of War under President Abraham Lincoln, from 1872 to 1959. Originally a 314-acre tract acquired in 1738, the estate features a historic farmhouse built in 1805, which was once the largest brick structure on the western frontier. The estate was transformed into a magnificent property by the Camerons, who expanded the original structure and added beautiful gardens. Visitors can still see the ornamental iron gates that once led to the state capital, making it a notable site for those interested in American history and architecture.
