Transamerica Pyramid

The Transamerica Pyramid at 600 Montgomery St was designed by architect William Pereira and completed in 1972, rising to 853 feet as a distinctive late-modernist skyscraper in San Francisco's Financial District. Its tapered form and open base were intentionally chosen to allow daylight and views through the city streets, and the structure is clad in precast concrete panels over a steel frame. The building is widely recognized as an iconic example of corporate modernist architecture in the city.
