Seaholm Power Plant

The Seaholm Power Plant is a decommissioned municipal power station on the south shore of Lady Bird Lake that was taken offline in 1996. The Art Deco turbine hall and adjacent structures were preserved during a commercial and residential redevelopment of the Seaholm District, converting the site into a mixed-use landmark. The turbine hall is a prominent visual reminder of Austin’s mid-20th-century industrial infrastructure and is accessible from the lakeside promenade. The site is frequently cited in discussions of adaptive reuse and historic preservation in Austin.
