Ford's Theatre - site of Lincoln's assassination

Ford's Theatre is the site where President Abraham Lincoln was shot by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865 during a performance of Our American Cousin. The building, located across from the Petersen House where Lincoln later died, now functions as a working theatre and museum preserving the historic auditorium and related artifacts. The site is administered as a National Historic Site and continues to host theatrical productions and educational programs.
