Naval Training Center San Diego (site redeveloped as Liberty Station)

The U.S. Navy's Naval Training Center San Diego operated on what is now Liberty Station until its closure under the 1993–1997 Base Realignment and Closure process; the Navy training center functions ceased in 1997. Many historic military buildings and the parade ground were preserved and repurposed into a civilian arts, residential, and commercial campus known as Liberty Station. The site's conversion is a documented example of a major military installation being closed and redeveloped for public use.
