Dewstow House

Dewstow House, located in Caerwent, Monmouthshire, Wales, is an early nineteenth-century Neoclassical villa renowned for its extraordinary underground gardens. These gardens, featuring rare underground passages and chambers adorned with artificial rock-work and stalactites, are considered one of the most unusual garden designs in Wales. The house itself is a Grade II listed building, while the gardens hold a prestigious Grade I listing on the Cadw/ICOMOS Register of Parks and Gardens of Special Historic Interest in Wales. After being abandoned for decades, the gardens were rediscovered and restored in the early 2000s, but are set to permanently close at the end of the 2024 season, making it a unique destination for tourists and researchers alike.
