Charlottenborg Manor House

Charlottenborg is a historic manor house located in Motala, Sweden, along the picturesque shores of Motala ström. Built in the mid-17th century by Count Ludvig Wierich Lewenhaupt, it was named after his wife, Charlotte von Hohenlohe-Neuenstein. The manor has a rich history, having served as a residence for notable figures such as General Adam Ludwig Lewenhaupt and engineer Daniel Fraser. Although originally constructed in the 17th century, it underwent significant renovations in the 18th century. Since 1959, Charlottenborg has been owned by Motala Municipality and now serves as the Motala Museum, showcasing local history and a collection of art spanning from the 17th to the 20th century, featuring works by renowned artists like Bruno Liljefors and Johan Krouthén.
