Old Corner Bookstore

The building at the corner of Washington and School Streets now known as the Old Corner Bookstore dates to 1718 and retains an 18th-century urban fabric. In the mid-19th century (from about 1832 to the 1860s) it housed the publishers Ticknor and Fields, who published many prominent American authors of the period. The site is a documented feature of Boston's 19th-century literary and commercial history.
