Hole-in-the-Rock viewpoint, Papago Park

Hole-in-the-Rock is a natural sandstone tafoni formation in Papago Park with a small cleft and elevation that frames views across the Salt River Valley and downtown Phoenix. A short climb and a series of steps lead to the opening, which is a popular spot for sunrise and sunset viewing and city photography. The formation sits within Papago Park near the Desert Botanical Garden and Phoenix Zoo and is listed as a notable park feature on City of Phoenix materials.
