The Rosenbach - rare books and manuscript museum

The Rosenbach preserves and exhibits rare books, manuscripts, and related cultural artifacts, including materials by James Joyce, Bram Stoker, and the original handwritten manuscript of Alice’s Adventures Under Ground (the precursor to Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland). Housed in two restored early-20th-century townhouses, the Rosenbach operates as a museum and research library focusing on literary and cultural history. It serves as a longstanding cultural institution in the Rittenhouse/Center City area.
